Three families, camping in a National Park.We had a good time, standing still for a brief period, marveling at God's creation. We took a 4x4 route the one day. We passed a 'No Entry' sign where there were clear indications of a religious gathering of some sorts allowed (in a national park!) Imitations of a man-faced rock from the area was visible, centred in a circle of rocks. We drove further. Got slightly off course, ended up having a picnic in the heat of the day in what shade a lovely tree had to offer. It was on the same road me and my family saw a leopard with our previous visit.
Us mothers got concerned, we didn't bring enough water along for this trip. Yet we got back to base camp alive although parched , hot and dusty.
Much later, on our way back home, we stopped for lunch. The BJ's Fastfood outlet menu had a write-up on the origin of their 'Chicken' dish. Something about a million years ago, when some pre-historic baptists (this is for real !) gathered under the trees for worship.
I read the history in 2 Kings 3 about Three Kings on a journey to war their mutual enemy. They got stuck in a desert without water and feared for their lives. They consulted Elisha, a prophet of the Lord God. Through Elisha, God said they must dig ditches.Even though there is no sign of wind or rain, He, God, will fill up the place with water.The Lord kept His Word and not only were their lives saved, they also conquered their enemy.
Lord God. We are Three Families, just like those Kings of old. We also journey through arid desert-like places in life.Our family's Christian lives being threatened by sin, temptations, idol worship and evil all round. Lord, give us the courage to trust You, while facing these obstacles that threatens our very existence as God-fearing families in this country. Grant us the faith to prepare for receiving Life giving Water from You for survival. Let us make space in our lives, dig holes and remove some bad soil. Grant us victory over our enemies.Let our light shine for You, let us praise Your Name !
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing !
Now it springs up; do you not percieve it ?
I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the desert and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.
